In an interview with Edward Hasbrouck about travel insurance, he said that travel insurance can be purchased from travel agencies and travel suppliers. Travel insurance is actually being offered as an additional option that goes along with the other travel services that you purchase from them.

Some insurance providers do handle travel insurance, specifically long-term comprehensive travel medical insurance. If you already have regular health coverage, check with your insurance provider about their packages because sometimes it would be advantageous to include travel insurance especially if you travel on a regular basis over the year. Since the coverage differs from one travel insurance company to another, it is best to compare first.
